Tzatziki Sauce is a Mediterranean recipe commonly served to accompany grilled meats. It tastes wonderful on fish and with poultry too and is perfect for keto. This recipe calls for English cucumbers, also known as seedless cucumbers, and are less bitter than regular cucumbers.
Traditionally, full fat greek yogurt is used as the base for Tzatziki Sauce. However, sour cream has a similar tart flavor but is lower in carbohydrate and higher in fat than greek yogurt. The added avocado oil further increases the ketogenic ratio. Enjoy with our Beef and Lamb Kafta recipe!
INGREDIENTS
1 cup (133 grams) grated cucumber (with skin if organic)
1 cup (240 grams) sour cream
2 cloves (6 grams) garlic - minced
1 Tablespoon (8 grams) dill weed
1 Tablespoon (15 grams) fresh lemon juice
2 Tablespoons (30 grams) avocado oil
Pinch of sea salt
DIRECTIONS
1Grate the cucumber and squeeze to remove the excess moisture.
2Mix all ingredients together and store in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or longer before serving. This is best if used within 1 to 2 days. Serve over salad and ground meat or poultry.
